FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Environment Agency Chief Executive Barbara Young has been unveiled as the keynote speaker at CIRIA’s annual contaminated land conference: Land regeneration – a time of change, on 4th October 2007 in London
This conference will clarify the UK policy and guidance on risk management and will explore how the forthcoming Government and Environment Agency initiatives and various EU Environmental Directives will affect contaminated land practitioners in UK. The event will also examine wider issues such as soil and waste management practice on sites as well as how the planning regime can work more successfully with Part IIA legislation.
The event will provide opportunities for practitioners to update their knowledge of new legislation such as Part IIA for contamination of radioactive substance as well as a forum to discuss different approaches for remediation including common contaminants such as hydrocarbons and metals, and more difficult materials such as hazardous ground gases and contaminants generated from coalfields etc.
CIRIA’s annual contaminated land conference will take place at Church House Conference Centre, Westminster, London.
